2020 Kink Launch Review

Kink’s 2020 Launch is a ‘rookies dream’. The small 20.25″ frame, compact geometry, and 8.75″ bars will make it easy for a new rider to progress. This bike is one of Kink’s most popular bmx bikes because it cost’s just over $300 and weighs 26 lbs.

2020 Kink Launch Overview

The 2020 Launch continues the legacy of a truly remarkable bike. This bike is still one of the best value priced models in the market, hands down, year after year. Available in Gloss Guinness Black, Matte Dusk Lilac, and Gloss Raw Holographic colorways, the Launch pairs its great color selection with even better components.

The Launch is equipped with both a sealed integrated headset and sealed Mid bottom bracket, which drastically improves performance and virtually eliminates maintenance of these components. Combined with a parts package that includes Kink Stryker forks, Kink Human CC 8.75” bars, and Mission Triumph 3pc tubular chromoly cranks, this bike is a rookies dream.

2020 Kink Launch Price

$319 is a low low price. Most entry level bmx bikes sit right around this price.

2020 Kink Launch Quality

While it’s not the best quality, it is a very good deal for the price. The frame and bars are 100% Hi-tensile steel, which is the weaker kind of materiel. Most bearings are unsealed, meaning they won’t last as long as sealed bearings. But for a beginner bike, this is fine.

Highlights

Great Geometry for beginners

Smaller frame is set for smaller riders to get into bmx and progress fast. 8.7″ bars offer a little height advantage to help with bunny hops.

Lowlights

Hi-tensile steel

Usually hi-tensile steel parts bend and don’t last as long as 4130 chromoly. This is ok to ride before you start sending big tricks.

Buy if you are learning:

  • 180
  • tire grab
  • x-up rides
  • bunny hop
  • half-cab

Don’t buy if you are learning:

  • tailwhips
  • 360 stair-sets
  • feeble 360
  • ice pick

Conclusion 🤩

Perfect bike for riders who are just starting out. If you plan to learn the tricks mentioned earlier you will have fun riding the 2020 kink launch. It has sick colors too!

My parents bought me my first BMX bike in 2011 and it changed my life. This bike has taken me all over the world and introduced me to cool places and cooler people. My goal is to help get 1,000,000 people into BMX so they can experience the joy and freedom that comes from a progression based sport.
