2020 We The People Envy Overview

The Envy is a testament to just how far BMX design has come. Every year Wethepeople unveil this bike, they want to show the world a new direction in bicycle design, and what happens when you hand-select only the very best products and assemble them into one masterpiece. For 2020 they wanted to take a new approach with the Envy and lighten it up where possible to prove that strength does not have to come with a weight disadvantage. What is now a bike of the future, The Envy is built up using the super light Envy XLT frame along with the Eclat Storm XLT fork, E440 rims and groundbreaking Seismic hubs. Despite the low weight, the Envy was designed for even the most brutal street and park riders and handle the raw brutality of BMX riding and features a full Lifetime guarantee on the frame and fork.

Frame Geometry

A: Top Tube Length:  20.5″ – 21″ – Learn what size is right for you here.Opens in a new tab.

20.5″ is perfect for anyone under 5′ 6″ if you are taller than 5′ 6″ go with a 21″. I’m 6′ 4″ and I ride a 21″

B: Chain Stay Length: 13.1” Centered

This is the average chain stay length.

Slam your chain is you want a responsive back end.

Extend your chain if you want more control in manuals and hops.

C: Head Tube Angle: 75.25° – Learn About Head Tube Angles HereOpens in a new tab.

Steep head tube angles make the bike “snappy” meaning more responsive to fast turns.

A less steep head tube gives you more control.

D: Seat Tube Angle: 71°

E: Bottom Bracket Height: 11.7″

F: Stand Over Height: 8.75″

This is an average size standover. Small standovers make whips and spins easier, but gives you less control for bar spins and t-bogs.

2020 We The People Envy Price

WOW! The Envy is incredibly expensive. Looking back at the part list.. I can see why. $1200 is probably the most expensive “complete” out there.

2020 We The People Envy Quality

It might be the best quality bike of 2020. I like the full list of Eclat parts and the aftermarket frame. The Envy has all of the bells and whistles that you would expect on a $1200 bike.

  • Strong 22mm bottom bracket
  • 48 spline cranks
  • Full Sanko Chromoly (strongest chromoly)
  • Double Wall Rims

Highlights

Strong, long lasting bike

I expect this bike to last an advanced rider for a very long time. The only thing to stop it would be getting run over by a car.

Lowlights

So Expensive

Most people do not have $1200 laying around. Just make sure that you plan to ride for a long time before buying this bike.

Buy if you are learning:

  • Tailwhips
  • Hop bars
  • Trucks
  • Crankflips
  • feeble grinds
  • Flips

Don’t buy if you are learning:

  • No limits

Conclusion 🤩

I don’t imagine that many people end up buying this bike. The ones that do are pretty serious riders. If you want a bike that will last a long time and has the best quality parts this is it. The next best thing to building your own custom bike.

If you decide to buy this bike get it from Chain ReactionOpens in a new tab., which sells in the US and UK.

My parents bought me my first BMX bike in 2011 and it changed my life. This bike has taken me all over the world and introduced me to cool places and cooler people. My goal is to help get 1,000,000 people into BMX so they can experience the joy and freedom that comes from a progression based sport.
