2020 We The People Versus Review

Wethepeople says that the Versus is a park machine. This bike includes responsive geometry and strong parts, making it a great upgrade for riders who want to become a true park shark. Looking at the specs, the Versus is build to last at an incredibly low weight. I had a bike almost identical to this when I first started riding.

Highlights

  • Full Chromoly
  • Double Wall Rims

Frame Geometry

A: Top Tube Length:  20.65″ – Learn what size is right for you here.Opens in a new tab.

20.65″ is pretty short.

This is good for taller riders that are between 5’3″ to 6′

B: Chain Stay Length: 12.75” mid

This is a short chain stay. The short chain stay makes the bike really responsive and snappy. This means fast spins and quick steering.

C: Head Tube Angle: 75.5° – Learn About Head Tube Angles HereOpens in a new tab.

Steep head tube angles make the bike “snappy” meaning more responsive to fast turns.

A less steep head tube gives you more control.

D: Seat Tube Angle: 71°

E: Bottom Bracket Height: 11.5″

F: Stand Over Height: 7.75″

This is an extremely short stand over. Perfect for park riding, a short stand over makes whips really easy.

Price

$732 is pretty costly, especially for a beginner. That’s why I recommend buying this bike is you are an intermediate rider that plans to keep shredding. This is a good deal compared to other bikes with this quality.

Quality

The Versus has a lot of good quality parts. These include:

Full Chromoly Frame bars and forks. Chromoly is the strongest type of steel available for bmx bikes. Read more about it hereOpens in a new tab.

Gyro Brake Set Up. Gryo usually does not come on complete bikes. This Salt plus gyro is a decent aftermarket choice.

Salt Plus Double Wall Rims. Running single wall rims is stupid. Please make sure your bike has double wall rims.

Highlights

Perfect for Park Riding!

I think its awesome when a company designs a bike specifically one discipline. It really makes it easy to progress in that type of riding if your bike is designed for it.

Lowlights

Hard to be a well rounded rider

Being designed for park is a blessing and a curse. If you get this bike and decide later on that you love street… It will be a struggle to progress in street because the bike is designed for park.

Buy if you are learning:

  • Anything
  • WHIPS
  • 360
  • Double peg stalls
  • 720
  • Flips

Don’t buy if you are learning:

  • Hefty street riding
  • Big stair sets
  • t-bogs

Conclusion 🤩

Designed for the guy who wants to start progressing at park really fast. The small frame angles and light parts will make it easy to learn whips, and spins. If you already ride bmx and want to get to the next level the Wethepeople Versus is perfect.

My parents bought me my first BMX bike in 2011 and it changed my life. This bike has taken me all over the world and introduced me to cool places and cooler people. My goal is to help get 1,000,000 people into BMX so they can experience the joy and freedom that comes from a progression based sport.
