2020 Fly Neutron Review

Fly’s Neutron bike is built for mid level riders to progress in park and dirt riding. While this bike is cheaper compared to the rest of Fly’s line…. It seems a little over priced. With tall bars, mellow offset forks, and a long chain stay you get lots of control for going fast and high. But can the parts withstand this level of riding?

Frame Geometry

A: Top Tube Length:  20.75″ – Learn what size is right for you here.Opens in a new tab.

This is a medium toptube.

Perfect for riders that are between 5’4″ to 5’8″

B: Chain Stay Length: 13.6” – Learn About Chain Stays HereOpens in a new tab.

This is a longer chain stay designed to give you more control when flowing parks and trails.

C: Head Tube Angle: 75° – Learn About Head Tube Angles HereOpens in a new tab.

Steep head tube angles make the bike “snappy” meaning more responsive to fast turns.

A less steep head tube gives you more control.

D: Seat Tube Angle: 71°

E: Bottom Bracket Height: 11.75″

F: Stand over height: 9.25″

This is a taller standover.

A tall standover gives you more stability and will make bars, and t-bogs easier.

2020 Fly Neutron Price

Way Over Priced. I hope someone can explain to me what makes this bike worth $540 with a trimoly frame and lower quality parts. Maybe I’m missing something? However, other bikes with this level of quality only cost $350 to $450.

2020 Fly Neutron Quality

Sadly I think the quality is lacking. The most important part (frame) has a weaker version of metal built into it. That makes me sad.

Highlights

Solid for park/dirt riding

Even though I think the parts will break, the specs are really good for what the bike needs to do. I would compare it to the Fit TRLOpens in a new tab.. Which has a 28 tooth sprocket, longer frame and bigger bars. This combo makes a good flow machine.

Lowlights

Bad Quality

From everything that I can tell.. This bike is way over priced. In my opinion this is a $350-$450 dollar bike. It has double wall rims but not a full chromoly frame. They skipped out on the after market parts that like the proton and orion had.

Buy if you are learning:

  • Bars
  • Whips
  • 360
  • medium airs/transfers

Don’t buy if you are learning:

  • Street tricks
  • Huge stair drops
  • grinding rails
  • 720
  • flips

2020 Fly Neutron Conclusion 🤩

In all of the other 2020 Fly reviews, I talked so highly of them. This bike was disappointing to me. When I saw the $540 price tag and the “trimoly” bs frame I decided that you should get something else. For less than $400 I’d say this is an amazing bike, but $540 is wayyyy too much.

My parents bought me my first BMX bike in 2011 and it changed my life. This bike has taken me all over the world and introduced me to cool places and cooler people. My goal is to help get 1,000,000 people into BMX so they can experience the joy and freedom that comes from a progression based sport.
