2022 Sunday Street Sweeper Review

The 2022 Sunday Street Sweeper is Jake Seeleys signature complete bike. Priced right below the Sunday Soundwave, the Street Sweeper will cost you around $849. This bike does not come with any pegs, and only has one hub guard. It’s a solid bike with a very flashy color. You can choose between LHD or RHD depending on what you like to ride.

You almost can’t go wrong with this bike, but it may not be perfect for everyone. Later in the post, I’ll describe who this bike is perfect for.

Frame Geometry

A: Top Tube Length:  20.75″ – Learn what size is right for you here.Opens in a new tab.

Check the size guide to see if it’s right for you..

Getting a top tube that is taller than suggested will make the bike feel more controlled and less responsive

Getting a top tube size that is smaller than normal will make the bike feel a lot more snappy and responsive.

B: Chain Stay Length: 12.7” – 13″ – Learn About Chain Stays HereOpens in a new tab.

This is a short chainstay.

A short chain stay makes the bike feel twitchy. Spins will be easy, but airing and jumping might feel hard to control.

A long chain stay will make the bike feel really controlled. Spins will feel sluggish, but manuals and air tricks will feel nice because it will be more stable.

C: Head Tube Angle: 75.25° – Learn About Head Tube Angles HereOpens in a new tab.

Steep head tube angles make the bike “snappy” meaning more responsive to fast turns.

A less steep head tube gives you more control.

D: Seat Tube Angle: 71°

E: Bottom Bracket Height: 11.7″

F: Stand over height: 8.85″

This is a medium standover.

A low standover will make tailwhips easier, but barspins harder.

A tall standover gives you more to pinch and grab when doing barspins & t-bogs.

Bar Geometry – Learn more hereOpens in a new tab.

G: Rise: 9″

Riding a tall rise, will give you more leverage on the bike. Making it easier to pull back and lift the front wheel up.

H: Width: 29″

Narrow bars make barspins easier.

Wide bars give you more control and stability when steering.

I: Backsweep:  12

What does backsweep do?

As far as I know, there is a sweet spot for backsweep. Too much will make the bike feel weird, and too little will make the bike unstable. It seems like the sweet spot is around 11º to 12º. If you need something a little more aggressive and straight feeling, go for 10º, but only do this if 11º is uncomfortable.

J: Upsweep: 3

What does upsweep do?

There is a lot of discussion about 1º upsweep vs. 4º upsweep. Some people are running experiments and testing if the greater upsweep will make drops feel better. It seems like a lot of street riders run 4º to 5º upsweep. This helps for wrist pain and lessens the impact of big drops.

Dougsterbob Score

Now everything above the line is pretty basic info. I break down the specs, geometry and some highlights. But that doesn’t really help you find the right bike. So I created the Dougsterbob Score.

What is it?

The Dougsterbob Score is taken from Doug Demaro’s “Doug Score” (He already had the name so I had to get creative with mine haha) Anyway, this assigns a score to the bike based on 20 different aspects. This way you will know exactly what this bike is good for and how it holds up.

2022 Sunday Street Sweeper Rankings

CategoryPoints
Dougsterbob Score6.15/10
Street Score6.75/10
Park Score5.67/10
Dirt Score2/10
Quality Score7.75/10

Dougsterbob Score

Dougsterbob Score: 6.15

The Sunday Street Sweeper scored a 6.16/10. Not many BMX bikes are able to score this high in the Dougsterbob Score. To achieve this score you need to be a pretty solid bike.

The Street Sweeper offers good quality after market parts but comes in a lot cheaper than the Soundwave.

Is the Sunday Street Sweeper a good bike?

Yes. The Street Sweeper is a good bike. It has all of the core components that you look for when buying a high level bike. This includes chromoly frame forks and bars, double wall rims and some after market parts.

Street Score

Street Score: 6.75

Sunday’s Street Sweeper scored well in the street section. Even though it doesn’t come with 4 pegs or 4 hub guards the build quality and free coaster gave it a good score..

This bike can withstand mid-level riding and will last with almost any rider as they progress.

Is the 2022 Sunday Street Sweeper for street riding?

The Street Sweeper is marketed as a street riders bike, but aside from the Odyssey Clutch V2 free coaster, it doesn’t have any street specific parts. You’d want to purchase pegs, hub guards, and a sprocket with a guard to be serious about street.

Park Score

Park Score: 5.67

The Street Sweeper has a responsive geometry that makes it good for technical park riding. The high quality also helps it withstand big park tricks. This is a good choice for someone who likes to ride park occasionally.

If you want to get really crazy and park specific, I recommend adding a gyro so you can execute park tricks that require brakes.

Is the 2022 Sunday Street Sweeper good for riding skateparks?

The 2022 Street Sweeper is a good bike for occasional skatepark riding. It’s not super park specific but it serves as a good bike if you ride skateparks every once in a while.

Dirt Score

Dirt Score: 2

The Street Sweeper scored a 2 in the dirt section. It does not have a dirt specific build like the Fit TRL or the WTP Revolver.

Freecoasters suck on dirt. The slack on a coaster makes it really hard to make up your speed and get to the next jump if you land low or case the previous jump.

This bike is also pretty responsive, which can be a downfall for dirt riding. We want long and stable geometry on dirt-specific bikes.

Check out the WTP Revolver to see a dirt-specific bike. (Check it out hereOpens in a new tab.)

Is the Sunday Street Sweeper good for riding dirt?

The Sunday Street Sweeper is not good for dirt riding. You want a mellow bike with dirt tires, bigger gearing and brakes. The Street Sweeper does not have these things.

Quality Score

Quality Score: 7.25

The Street Sweeper is a high quality bike. Including all of the components that you need when doing bigger tricks, this bike comes with a nice aftermarket parts package.

Riding a high-quality bike is important to have fun and progress safely.

The Sunday Street Sweeper includes these high-quality parts that make up its 7.25 Quality Score

  • Full Chromoly Frame
  • Full Chromoly Forks
  • Full Chromoly Bars
  • 2x Double Wall Rims
  • Fully Sealed Bearings

Style

The Street Sweeper is bright pink and purple. It looks like a box of Nerds. The color way makes it a great bike for your girlfriend or wife. Buying them a pink bike is usually how I win their heart. But if you’re qa dude into pink, even better. This color option is perfect for you.

Value

For $850 you are getting so much bike. This is honestly too much bike for a brand new rider. But the quality is incredible. The price is on the higher end, but compared to other options, this is a fair price. I wouldn’t by any means say that this is an “incredibly priced bike, but more of a “fair” priced bike.

If you are considering this bike and have the money…go for it. The quality will last as you progress. I think you could get away with spending a little less and getting the Cult Devotion or Kink Cloud.

Should you get it?

If you have the budget and enjoy riding street and park, you will love the Street Sweeper. The color may be a big selling point for a lot of people. Don’t forget to but pegs and hub guards if you want to start grinding, and make sure that 20.75″ toptube is right for you by checking out my size guide or by filling out a Free BMX Bike Recommendation.

Would I recommend it?

This show up on my free bike recommendations a lot. I think it is a good bike for certain people. Generally people who want an amazing bike should buck up and spend the money on the Soundwave. However, that is not always a practical solution. If this falls right at the top of your budget, you will be excited to see how well this bike is actually put together.

Conclusion

The Street Sweeper looks rad, with the close attention to detail on the color and the stickers. It has high quality chromoly parts, and a nice geometry for street/park riding. It’s a little expensive and you might be able to save some money if you like the looks of the Cloud or the Devotion more. All in all this is a good bike, and supporting Jake Seeley is never a bad idea.
