Best BMX Forks (Top 15 Forks for BMX Upgrades) 2022 Edition

Forks play a crucial role in your BMX bike. Most complete bikes come with low-quality 50% chromoly forks. In this post, I’ll tell you 15 of my favorite BMX forks and explain why they are worth shelling out the $$$ to get them.

My #1 pick for forks is going to be the Odyssey R-Series forks. This includes R25, R32, and R15. They have a lifetime warranty and are incredibly strong. I’ll go more in-depth about them later in this post. There are so many fork options, but I just switched back to my R25 forks after trying tons of other options.

15. Salt Plus EX Fork

Most affordable BMX Forks.

Price$79.99
Offset (mm)28
Front Brakes?No
Wheel Size20″
MaterialChromoly Steel
Weight (oz)40.49 oz
ColorGlossy Black

Highlights

  • 1 pc Steer Tube
  • Full chromoly legs
  • Full Chromoly Steer tube
  • 28mm offset

The Salt EX forks are good forks to upgrade if you are switching from cheap hi-tensile steel forks. These forks off the strength of full chromoly for 1/2 the price of other forks. Salt is a lower-tier brand to Eclat and Wethepeople so their parts are quality.

Are the Salt Plus EX Forks any good?

Compared to hi-tensile steel or 50% chromoly forks, the difference is night and day. The Salt Plus EX forks will last an intermediate rider a long time. If money is tight and you need an upgrade, these are great.

Just a heads up, the reason these are so much cheaper is that the chromoly is NOT heat treated. So while these forks are stronger than hi-tensile steel, they are not as good as heat-treated $200 forks. But should a beginner really worry about that? No.

14. Fiction Shank Fork

Coolest Looking Forks.

Price$99.99
Offset (mm)26mm
Front Brakes?Yes
Wheel Size20″
MaterialChromoly Steel
Weight (oz)39 oz
ColorMatte Black|Red Splatter|Chrome

Highlights

  • Full Chromoly
  • Extra Clearance for pegs
  • 26mm offset

The Fiction Shank forks are beefed up in the drop outs so peg riding will not be an option. These are good full chromoly upgrades for right at $100. The Shank forks are designed to work with integrated headsets, as well as press fit headsets. If you’re low on cash, these are decent and they look cool.

Are the Fiction Shank Forks any good?

To replace hi-tensile steel forks, these are great. They come in multiple colors, a front brake fork options, and are versatile with different types of headsets. These a good forks for a beginner rider to upgrade but if you weigh over 200 lbs skip these forks since they are not heat treated.

13. Eclat Storm Forks

Most Responsive

Price$139.99
Offset (mm)20mm
Front Brakes?No
Wheel Size20″
MaterialHeat Treated Chromoly
Weight (oz)36.4 oz
ColorBlack

Highlights

  • Full Heat Treated Chromoly
  • Extra Clearance for big tires (2.45″)
  • 20mm offset
  • Extra Strong

The Eclat Storm forks are seen on the high-end WTP Envy Complete BMX bike. This is a great fork that steps up the quality with Full Liquid Post Heat-Treated Seamless 4130 Chromoly. Eclat says that they worked for 3 years to develop the storm fork and everyone loves it.

Without getting into too much detail, this fork has all of the bells and whistles that’d you’d expect from pro-level forks. The 20mm offset is for someone who has already experimented with more responsive forks since this is not a normal offset. The storm forks are steep and responsive.

Are the Storm Forks any good?

The Wethepeople Storm forks are incredible. A CNCed steer tube, liquid heat-treated chromoly, and hydroformed fork legs to name a few of the reasons this fork is of elite quality. If I wanted a 20mm offset on my forks, I’d be running these.

12. Cult Sect V3 Forks

Very Popular

Price$144.99
Offset (mm)32mm
Front Brakes?No
Wheel Size20″
MaterialHeat Treated Chromoly
Weight (oz)36.7 oz
ColorBlack|Chrome

Highlights

  • Full Heat Treated Chromoly
  • Extra Thick Fork Legs
  • Mellow 32mm offset

The coolest thing about the Cult Sect forks is the 20″ or 18″ option. Solid parts for 18″ bikes are hard to find, but cult made it easier. Cult’s parts are mostly popular because of their huge following, but their parts are strong and built to last.

These Sect forks have a mellow 32mm offset which is nice for controlled riding at high speeds. They have extra thick tubing to increase strength and a 1 pc CNC machined steer tube. They are built to last.

Are the Cult Sect Forks any good?

People choose these forks because of their love for Cult. They are solid/reliable forks that went through a lot of testing to ensure they will last. The Sect forks are not known as the strongest forks, but many riders will ride them and have no issues.

11. Animal Street Forks

Easilly Adjustable Forks

Price$129.99
Offset (mm)15mm or 26mm
Front Brakes?No
Wheel Size20″
MaterialNon Heat Treated Chromoly
Weight (oz)40 oz
ColorBlack|Chrome

Highlights

  • Full Chromoly Legs
  • Invest Cast Dropouts
  • Extremely Steep 15mm Offset
  • Steep 26mm Offset

These forks are decent, but they are a bit expensive for non-heat-treated forks. The reason that they made it on the list is the fact that the 1pc steer tube has precut slots to cut down your forks. Many people like to cut down the steer tube to lower the stack height. Sadly they mess it up. Animal took the initiative to add pre-pressed spots to make cutting down your steer tube easier.

I like that they come in two responsive options and the top cap screws on with a normal 3/8″ ratchet. No allen key or socket is needed.

Are the BSD Jonesin’ Forks any good?

These are the ones for you if you need a pair of forks that can be easily cut down and set to the proper steer tube length. They are good because they can be adjusted easily, are pretty strong, and come with 2 popular offset options.

Are the Wethepeople Battleship Forks any good?

The Battleship Forks are made with wethepeoples “M2” chromoly which is argued to be a stronger type of chromoly. The heat treatment possess stiffens the metal on the legs so you have a stronger and more rigid ride. The thing that makes these forks particularly good is the peg fitment design. Look at the dropouts and how it’s carved out for a peg to go in there.

7. Colony Sweet Tooth Forks

Best Front Brake Forks

Are the Colony Sweet Tooth Forks any good?

In the time that I rode the Sweet Tooth forks, I loved every second of it. They were light and moderately responsive. If you are looking for an ultra-light fork with front brake capability, these are good for you. The heat-treated chromoly along with the 1pc steer tube makes a great fork.

Are the Shadow Conspiracy Featherweight ADJ Forks any good?

Somehow, Shadow was able to make these ultra-light forks very strong. They used their proprietary Rigidrop dropout system which is better than the standard welding of dropouts, the material is heat-treated to increase stiffness, and a 1 pc steerer tube to minimize weak points. The construction of this frame is incredible. This is a solid fork.

2. S&M Pitchfork XLT Fork

Are the S&M Pitchfork Forks any good?

Yes, they are very expensive forks, but they are designed to last forever. The 4Q heat-treating process is way above standard heat treating, they use triangle dropouts to increase stiffness, and they are hand-made in the USA. You can’t get much better than that.

1. Odyssey R Series Forks

You can choose the fork offset that is right for you. Personally, I ride the R25 because the 25mm offset feels best to me. The steerer tube is pretty tall at 166mm but it can be cut down if you want.

Are the Odyssey R25 Forks any good?

Yes. These are the best forks available. They come with an intense heat treatment process, strong chromoly parts, and a lifetime warranty. What else could you need? With the odyssey R25 forks and any other r-series forks, you are literally getting the best of the best.

I have r32 forks that are 3+ years old and r25 forks that are 4 years old. They are still going strong. I’ve broken Fit Blad forks, S&M pitchforks, colony sweet tooth forks, and others. The R series forks are the best.

Conclusion

All of the forks on this list will make a great replacement for forks that come on a stock BMX bike. The forks with the higher ranking are better in strength and weight. Price is also something to consider when buying forks since they range from $130 to $210. Either way, if you are a newer rider, you can trust that any of these forks will last while you progress and offer big upgrades to your BMX bike.
