Geometry and Sizing
Let’s talk about the sizing of this bike so you can decide if it will be the right size for your height. Check out the Dougsterbob Size guide to see what you need to be looking for when shopping for a new BMX bike.
The most common cause of failure in BMX is an improperly sized BMX bike.
Frame Size
Toptube Size 1 | 20.5″ |
Height Recommendation | 5′ 6″ to 5′ 9″ |
Big Bike Background | 5′ 3″ to 5′ 6″ |
Toptube Size 2 | 20.75″ |
Height Recommendation | 5′ 9″ to 6‘ |
Big Bike Background | 5′ 6″ to 5′ 9″ |
Toptube Size 3 | 21″ |
Height Recommendation | Over 6‘ |
Big Bike Background | Over 5′ 9″ |
Toptube Size 4 | 21.3″ |
Height Recommendation | Over 6‘ |
Big Bike Background | Over 5′ 9″ |
Frame Geometry
Head Tube Angle | 75º |
Standover Height | 8.5” |
Chain Stay Length | 13.2” |
Bottom Bracket Height | 11.6” |
This is a standard geometry with a slightly smaller than average stand-over height. The Tiro will balance stability with responsiveness which is great for a new rider. I do worry that the 8.5″ standover will be really small for a tall rider on the 21.33″ toptube.
Other Geometry
Fork Offset | 30mm |
Bar Rise | 9” |
Bar Width | TBD |
Crank Length | 170mm |
Stem Specs | 50mm Reach Maybe? |
Gear Ratio | 25/9 |
The 30mm offset on the forks is on the “stable” side. This will give the bike a bit more steering stability than it would if it only had 25mm offset forks. The 9″ bars might feel small for a tall rider on the 21″ or 21.33″ top tube option but will feel good for a smaller rider on the 20.5″
Quality & Weight Limit
The quality determines how long your bike will last and how it will hold up to certain levels of riding. Get the highest quality bike that you can afford because this will increase it’s longevity.
Quality Score | 2 |
Weight Limit | Under 130 lbs |
Main Component Quality
Frame | 100% Hi-tensile Steel |
Forks | Hi-tensile steel, chromoly steer tube, |
Bars | hi-tensile steel, 2-pc |
Cranks | 8 spline, 3 pc cranks, chromoly |
Rims | Rant Squad, alloy, single wall |
The main components are very low quality. Everything is high tensile steel which will not last as long as chromoly. A heavier rider will bend hi-tensile steel relatively easily, but a small rider will be fine on this level of quality.

Utility
Certain bikes are better for certain types of riding. Let’s talk about what type of riding this bike is best for. Remember, you can always make upgrades to make it better for your desired type of riding.
Type of Riding | Dirt/Park |
Street | 1.3 |
Park | 2.56 |
Dirt | 2.82 |
This bike has a standard geometry that does a good job of balancing responsiveness for park and stability for dirt. Sadly it does not come with any parts to make this bike better for street riding. You can make upgrades that will make the bike better for street since it is fully upgradable.
Good Upgrades

Upgrade 2 | Tires |
Upgrade 3 | Bars |
Conclusion
The unique part of this bike is the 21.33″ toptube option, but the reality is that most riders who are tall enough for a 21.33″ or 21″ toptube will be too heavy for this bike and will cause damage to it prematurely. For a small rider under 130lbs with a tight budget, I’d recommend it for you. But not for a taller rider. I’ll find the right bike for you…
