FIT STR VS. DIVISION FORTIZ (BMX Bike Comparison)

The Fit STR is a popular choice for street riders who want a street-specific bike, while the Division Fortiz offers a more “well-rounded” style with higher quality parts. Finding the right bike is confusing so I will help you determine which of these bikes is better.

Generally, the Division Fortiz is an amazing bike for the price. It’s a very high value. But the 21″ toptube is too big for a good portion of BMX riders.

About Each Bike

First, let’s take a look at what the manufacturer has to say about each bike. Each brand has a unique way to talk about their bike and I always have fun reading them and calling them out on their BS when need be.

About the Fit STR BMX bike

The Fit Bike Co. 2023 STR BMX Bike is ready to tear the streets up straight out of the box. 4-piece bars, Fit parts, and a sick design all come together to create a ride that is both strong great to look at. The LG in the title represents the 20.75″ toptube length helping to reinforce the street designation with the geometry. Fit has even included 4 pegs with it. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and nail those urban lines.

Price

The Fit STR has a wide range of prices. It will range from $500 to $589 depending on the model that you choose. The Division Fortiz came on the market at $589 but is currently on sale for $383 which is an incredible deal.

Weight

the Fit STR is a lighter BMX bike that only weighs 27.7 lbs. This is with the pegs included. The Division Fortiz weighs 28.7 lbs and comes without pegs or hubguards. The Fit STR will score a point here since it is a pound lighter.

Size Options

The Division fortiz is only available in a 21″ toptube which will limit it to riders who are 6’+. The Fit STR comes in a 20.5″ or a 20.75″ option which opens it up to fit more riders comfortably. The STR will earn a point here for having more size options.

Color Options

The Fit STR has 5 different color options to choose from. I’m sure you’ve seen bikes that you like and bikes that you hate. It’s cool when a brand includes lots of color options because it gives you a chance to get a version of the correct bike in a color that you love. The Fortiz only has 2 color options so the STR will earn a point here.

Core BMX Brands

I like to support bike companies that give back to the economy. I goofed in the video and said that Division is not a core BMX brand, but I was wrong. Division is a sub-brand of Colony which does a lot for the sport. For the sake of consistency, Fit will still score a point. Just know both brands do a lot for the sport.

Utility of the bikes

The Fit STR is designed for street riding. It comes with a freecoaster option and 4 pegs to be grind-ready out of the box. Since it is specific for a certain type of riding, it will stand out from other bikes and help riders get a bike geared for their desired style. The STR scores a point here.

Frame Quality

The Division Fortiz has a full chromoly frame that will hold up to mid-level riding. The Fit STR has some chromoly in the frame, but not enough to be considered full chromoly. The division Fortiz will earn a point for having a higher quality frame.

Fork Quality

The Forks on the Division Fortiz are full chromoly which is way stronger than the hi-tensile steel forks on the Fit STR. Having full chromoly forks ensures that your bike will hold up to certain tricks and crashes. The fortiz will earn a point here for having higher quality forks.

Bar Quality

Just like the forks, the Fortiz has full chromoly bars which will outlast the hi-tensile steel bars on the Fit STR. The Fortiz earns a point for having better quality bars.

Rim Quality

The division Fortiz has double wall rims. The fit STR only has single wall rims. Double Wall rims are designed to support a heavier rider and withstand the abuse caused by spinning tricks. Double wall rims are the way to go. Since the Fortiz has stronger rims, it will earn a point.

Aftermarket Parts

The Fit STR comes with 3 aftermarket parts, and these parts give a boost to the STR. Bikes with aftermarket parts have components that can be purchased separately as upgrades. The Fortiz does not have any real after-market parts so the STR will earn a point here.

Fit STR: 3 aftermarket parts

Division Fortiz: 0 aftermarket parts

The Fit STR will earn a point for having aftermarket parts.

Quality Score

The Fortiz scored much higher in the quality section of the Dougsterbob App. It scored a 6.75 which is more than double the 3 quality score of the Fit STR. The Fortiz is much higher quality and it will earn a point.

Value Score

Because of the high quality score of the Fortiz and the relatively low price point, this bike is much better value than the Fit STR. You can be assured that the Fortiz is not overpriced for the money. The Fit STR only scored a 5.96 in value while the Fortiz scored an 11.96. The Fortiz earns a point for being a better value choice.

Winner

The Division Fortiz scored a total of 6 and the Fit STR scored a total of 6. It’s technically a tie here, but since the Fortiz is better value and that’s what a lot of my content is based on, the Fortiz takes the W here. It’s a 21″ toptube and it might be too big for a lot of people so click the link below and I’ll find your perfect bike.
