Top 3 2022 Subrosa BMX Bikes

Subrosa has a ton of different BMX bikes. They range all the way from the lowest quality tiro all the way up to the overpriced Novus. Each bike has its own quality, size, and use. But some of these 2022 Subrosa BMX bikes are better than others. Let’s find the top 3.

The best bike in Subrosa’s 2022 line is the Subrosa Letum. The Letum comes packed full of good-quality parts giving it a pretty high-quality score. My favorite part about this bike is the pegs, hubguards, and freetoaster that are included. This bike is ready to ride street right out of the box.

3. Subrosa Altus

Look, I know what you are thinking. “ONLY a 1.5 quality score? What the hell?”

I know it’s not the best quality bike… but hear me out, please.

The Altus is a really low-quality bike, but it’s designed to be a good bike for the small brand new rider. This bike has a small 20.00″ toptube that will fit riders between 5′ to 5′ 3″. Most bikes are bigger than this.

About

The 2022 Subrosa Altus is a great first full-sized bike for young riders who are getting into freestyle. The 20″ toptube allows riders to transition up to 20″ wheels without riding a bike that is too big providing a more natural feel and better bike control. High-tensile steel construction creates a durable foundation while the selection of quality Subrosa and Rant components including ensures riding for years to come. Available in Black and Army Green color schemes, this 20″ bike is recommended for kids 7 and up (48″ to 52″).

✅ – Small toptube designed for a small and lightweight rider
✅ – Fairly low cost

Raw Thoughts

The Subrosa Altus is now a good quality bike. If you plan to progress to riding at a mid-level, or you weigh over 130 lbs, stay far away from this bike. It will not last and you will break it pretty quick.

But if you’re a small rider and you need a lightweight bike to start out on, this is one of the few 20.00″ BMX bike available. The Altus can be upgraded easily so swapping out parts is no big deal.

2. Subrosa Malum

The Malum is an interesting BMX bike. On the surface, it looks pretty average. However, if you dig deep and really look at it, you realize that the Malum is a very solid BMX bike for the price. This bike has everything that I suggest BMX riders look for.

About

The 2022 Subrosa Malum BMX Bike is built for extreme riding. Subrosa knows how to keep their finger on the pulse of what is in and the 170mm Rant Bangin’ cranks, Contender 2.35″ tires, and TSC Crow pivotal seat prove it. Other aftermarket components such as the 100% chromoly frame and fork, Rant Party On V2 hubs, and Subrosa Rose top load stem put doubts on strength and durability to rest allowing you to ride harder and go bigger without worry. Jump on a Subrosa Malum if the best is what you need.

Highlights

✅ – Full chromoly frame, forks, and bars
✅ – Shadow Interlock 1/2 link chain
✅ – High value score (good quality and good price)

Raw Thoughts

I’m very impressed with how many aftermarket parts Subrosa included on the Malum. The 1/2 link chain alone is a $40 chain that will last forever but there’s much more than that. Alongside the interlock chain, the Malum has Shadow Surface pedals, double wall rims, a female front hub and more. The bike is a genuinely good mid-level bike.

However, I will say that over the last 3 years the Malum has gone from a $500 bike to a $660 bike. This price is really pushing the value. If it gets much more expensive I might need to stop recommending it.

1. Subrosa Letum

The Letum is recommended buy me a lot when someone requests a free bike recommendation. I like the Letum for a number of reasons, but the biggest reason has to be the utility. Very few BMX bikes are designed well to be ridden in a specific way. And the ones that are, tend to be very over priced.

The Letum has a unique parts package that sets it aside from all of the other bikes in the line up.

About

Pegs? Check. Hub guards? Check. Freecoaster? Check. The 2022 Subrosa Letum BMX Bike is ready to wreck the streets right out of the box. The Rant Moonwalker II freecoaster wheel allows you to coast backwards without the need of back-pedaling letting you concentrate on the next part of the line. 100% chromoly is utilized in constructing the frame, forks, handlebars, and the cranks creating the strength needed to go big without hesitation. Factor in the Shadow, Rant, and Subrosa aftermarket components and it’s pretty obvious why the Subrosa Letum is one of the hottest bikes on the market.

Highlights

✅ – Full chromoly frame, forks, and bars
✅ – Double Wall Rims
✅ – 4x pegs and 4x hubguards
✅ – High street score

Raw Thoughts

The Letum has the main components that everyone should have. This includes full chromoly frame, forks, and bars, along with double wall rims. If a bike has that, it’s a good place to start since it has good enough quality to upgrade over time.

It doesn’t have the same quality aftermarket parts that the Malum does, but this bike has the “utility” factor going for it. For just a little over $600 you can get a bike that is fully decked out and ready to ride street.

Everything on the bike can be replaced over time so don’t stress to much about the little things.

My parents bought me my first BMX bike in 2011 and it changed my life. This bike has taken me all over the world and introduced me to cool places and cooler people. My goal is to help get 1,000,000 people into BMX so they can experience the joy and freedom that comes from a progression based sport.
