3. 2021 Commencal Meta AM 29 Ohlins Suspension Bike – $4900 +

Benefitting from the feedback from Commencal sponsored EWS (Enduro World Series) pro riders, the updated Meta AM brings you even better performance than before. Ready to race against the clock at enduro races, this version is equipped with Ohlins suspension to have you floating over the rough stuff. Then when it’s time to get up to speed, the slick-shifting Shimano SLX 1×12 speed drivetrain combines with the fast-engaging DT Swiss 350 rear hub for near-instant power transfer.

Key Features

Aesthetically, the frame has evolved in depth. Notably, the sharper lines highlight improved performance. The completely revised Meta AM 29 will therefore delight riders eager for performance and those who like to give it all regardless of the difficulty of the trail before them. Plus, with faster-than-ever speed to deal with, Commencal decided to alter the geometry. Lengthened for stability, it’s equipped with a 40mm stem, a short fork offset (42/44mm) and a slacker head angle. This means handling is not impeded and the bike feels like it has a good sense of direction. The seat angle is straightened, and the offset is reduced for optimised uphill positioning regardless of whether in the saddle or on the pedals.

The kinematics of the frame has been redesigned to enable a bike that is both more dynamic and more comfortable during suspension travel. This results in less rider-leg fatigue and essentially the ability to ride the bike optimally towards the end of long race stages. Thanks to 170mm travel on the front and 160mm on the back, this Meta AM is an enduro platform that’s designed to go fast for extended periods of time. The stiffness of the frame is also always the subject of much attention. The use of double-row Enduro Bearings on the Commencal Meta AM 29 Ohlins Suspension Bike allows a more homogeneous deformation of the frame without the loss of stiffness via the bearings.

2. 2020 NS Define 130 1 Suspension Bike – $5500+

1. Nukeproof Reactor 290 WORX Carbon Bike – $6000+

The Nukeproof Reactor 290 WORX was created to celebrate the 30-years anniversary of the company’s successes. This model features a limited-edition state-of-the-art Reactor 290c frame that’s fitted with top-of-the-line components, giving riders an ultimate riding experience, unmatchable by anything else on the mountainside.

Key Features

This sensational full-suspension bike features a top-quality Nukeproof carbon frame with enduro-inspired geometry for the ultimate in strength, stability, and control at a low weight. Plus, it’s equipped with RockShox Ultimate suspension, a SRAM XO1 Eagle AXS Wireless 12-Speed groupset with SRAM G2 Ultimate brakes to roll you anywhere on the mountainside with pace, agility, and control.

DT Swiss XM1501 Spline wheels wrapped in Maxxis tyres give this bike all the speed, stability and grip to ride the most daring terrains with confidence. And, a quality Nukeproof Horizon finishing kit and RockShox Reverb dropper seatpost ensure you have all the reliability and comfort to soar from trail to trail.

The Reactor name is taken from Nukeproof’s original 1995 trail bike, but a lot has changed in the last 25 years and the new Reactor platform is a truly modern trail weapon. Designed to be home on steep technical climbs or all-day epic adventures, but happiest when thrashing the most technical trails you can point it at. The Reactor’s Kinematics, geometry and specification are all designed from the ground up to offer riders the definitive aggressive trail bike.

SRAM launched the Eagle AXS and Reverb AXS systems to offer riders the next level of personalization and control through wireless technology. By removing the clutter and complexity, they streamlined the cockpit and created the ultimate performance drivetrain and dropper set up. AXS is designed to be simple to set up and maintain thanks to the latest pure shifting technology. This means that the performance is always outstanding and consistent even under load and the roughest terrain. To enhance the connection to the bike the AXS systems can be personalised to your riding preferences with the AXS App.

Using these latest technologies, the limited edition Reactor 290c WORX blends an aggressive frame design with lightweight, high performance components and the latest braking and suspension packages to create the ultimate trail weapon.

The Reactor 290 WORX frames feature the same “flip chip” design as the regular Reactor frame to adjust the geometry from “Trail” to “Rail mode”.

  • Trail – As the name suggests, this setting is best suited for trail riding. It is for riders who get as much enjoyment from the climb as the descents.
  • Rail – The Rail setting turns the Reactor ST into a more aggressive machine, dropping the bottom bracket 6mm and slackening the head angle by half a degree. It is there to maximise the descending capabilities.

My parents bought me my first BMX bike in 2011 and it changed my life. This bike has taken me all over the world and introduced me to cool places and cooler people. My goal is to help get 1,000,000 people into BMX so they can experience the joy and freedom that comes from a progression based sport.
