Riding a frame on the “bigger” end will make the bike feel more controlled and flowy.

Riding a frame on the “smaller” end will make the bike feel more snappy and responsive.

This is a short chain stay.

A short chain stay will make the bike feel quick and responsive. It will make spins easier, and manuals harder to control.

Steep head tube angles make the bike “snappy” meaning more responsive to fast turns.

A less steep head tube gives you more control.

The seat tube angle can adjust how the top tube feels by making it more or less steep. Most are this angle, it doesn’t change very often.

The bottom bracket height adjusts how low or high your feet are off the ground. Most completes will be this height.

This is a short standover.

A short stand over makes whips easier to kick and get around, but make bars harder since the seat is low and hard to pinch.

2021 Fit STR (MD) Freecoaster Price

The Freecoaster version of the Fit STR is a little more expensive. At first, I thought that the price jump was from the addition of the freecoaster. But this version also adds a double wall rim to the back wheel. This is going to save you a lot of headache.

2021 Fit STR (MD) Freecoaster Quality

This version of the bike is getting pretty closed to being ranked as a mid-level bike. But it’s still right at beginner. Here’s why it’s not mid-level..

Buy if you are learning:

  • Feeble
  • hops
  • 180
  • pull up barspins
  • x-up rides
  • smith
  • double pegs
  • fakie
  • 1/2 cab

Don’t buy if you are learning:

  • 360
  • big drops
  • tail whips
  • barspins
  • grinding hand rails
  • 360 bar
  • 360 whip

2021 Fit STR (MD) Freecoaster Conclusion

The 2021 Fit STR (MD) Freecoaster is designed for a new rider who wants to focus on street riding and require a freecoaster to learn those unique fakie tricks. This person needs pegs to do feebles, smiths, and double pegs. It has a responsive geometry that will make the bike easy to control. For $469, it is a good priced bike, especially since it comes with a double-wall back rim.
