The 2022 Kink Curb is one of Kink’s cheapest BMX bikes. This bike is designed for a brand new rider and costs $369. The Curb does not have any chromoly and has very few standard aftermarket parts. I rarely will recommend the curb since the quality will be too low for most riders after only riding for a year.

Overview
The 2022 Kink Curb is a great option for riders who are ready for their first 20″ bike but aren’t quite tall enough for a full-size frame. Kink has made sure that this model can perform by including aftermarket parts from themselves and Mission BMX such as Kink forks with tapered legs, Kink bars, and Mission cranks. The Kink Curb is perfect for learning new tricks and riding technique.

Frame Geometry
A: Top Tube Length: 20.00″ – Learn what size is right for you here.
Check the size guide to see if it’s right for you..
Getting a top tube that is taller than suggested will make the bike feel more controlled and less responsive
Getting a top tube size that is smaller than normal will make the bike feel a lot more snappy and responsive.
B: Chain Stay Length: 13.25” – Learn About Chain Stays Here
This is a medium/long chainstay.
A short chain stay makes the bike feel twitchy. Spins will be easy, but airing and jumping might feel hard to control.
A long chain stay will make the bike feel really controlled. Spins will feel sluggish, but manuals and air tricks will feel nice because it will be more stable.
C: Head Tube Angle: 74.5° – Learn About Head Tube Angles Here
This is a mellow headtube angle
Steep head tube angles make the bike “snappy” meaning more responsive to fast turns.
A less steep head tube gives you more control.
D: Seat Tube Angle: 71°
E: Bottom Bracket Height: 11.6″
This is a Average bottom bracket
A low BB height will make the bike feel more stable since the height of your pedals and cranks are close to the ground.
A tall BB height will make the bike more snappy and responsive since you will be standing higher up off the ground.
F: Stand over height: 8.5″
This is a low stand over height
A low standover will make tailwhips easier, but barspins harder.
A tall standover gives you more to pinch and grab when doing barspins & t-bogs.
Bar Geometry – Learn more here
G: Rise: 8.75″
This is a low rise
Riding a tall rise, will give you more leverage on the bike. Making it easier to pull back and lift the front wheel up.
H: Width: N/A
Narrow bars make barspins easier.
Wide bars give you more control and stability when steering.
I: Backsweep: N/A
J: Upsweep: N/A
Dougsterbob Score
Now everything above the line is pretty basic info. I break down the specs, geometry and some highlights. But that doesn’t really help you find the right bike. So I created the Dougsterbob Score.
The scores for this bike are a result of comprehensive testing on the product. Every aspect of this bike has been carefully considered and compared to other BMX bikes. These scores will allow you to make a smart and confident decision when purchasing the bike.
What is it?
The Dougsterbob Score is taken from Doug Demaro’s “Doug Score” (He already had the name so I had to get creative with mine haha) Anyway, this assigns a score to the bike based on 20 different aspects. This way you will know exactly what this bike is good for and how it holds up.

Everything you need to know about the Kink Curb and its utility
Dougsterbob Value Factor
Value Factor: 3.25
Is the Kink Curb a good value?
The Kink Curb scored a 3.25 for the Value score. This is after testing the bike and comparing it to the price. The low-value score shows that this bike is not a great deal for the price.
For $369 you are getting a really low-quality hi-tensile steel bike, with single wall rims and unsealed bearings.
Is the Kink Curb a good bike?
No. The Curb is not a good bike. And I don’t say that to talk bad about it. The quality is just extremely low. For a small rider who does not weigh very much, the Curb will not break too easily. But you put a normal-sized rider on this bike and you will run into some issues.
Riding it at street spots
Street Score: 1.33
The Kink Curb scored a really low 1.33 in street. This is a really low score and was calculated based on a ton of different factors. There are specific things that we like to see in a “street-specific” bike and the Curb did not hit the mark.
Is the 2022 Kink Curb for street riding?
No. The Kink Curb is not good for street riding out of the box. This is its lowest-scoring section. The Curb will require some street upgrades if you want to focus on street riding.
Riding it at the Skatepark
Park Score: 3.85
The Curb scored a 3.85 in Park. This is a half-decent park score meaning the Curb was able to check off some of the boxes needed to be a park-specific bike.
Is the 2022 Kink Curb good for riding skateparks?
Yes, the Kink Curb will be an ok bike for park riding. The geometry makes it good for technical riding and the bike will feel smooth when riding transition. More upgrades like park-specific tires and a gyro brake system could help the Curb excel at riding skateparks.
Riding it on the dirt jumps or pump tracks
Dirt Score: 2.82
The Kink Curb scored a 2.82 in dirt. This is a relatively low dirt score, but the curb did check off some of the boxes in this bike could be decent when riding pump tracks or dirt jumps.
Check out the WTP Revolver to see a dirt-specific bike. (Check it out here)
Is the Kink Curb good for riding dirt jumps and pump tracks?
You can absolutely ride the Kink Curb on dirt jumps and pump tracks. Now, this would not be my first choice. It scores higher in dirt than it does in street but this bike still requires some dirt specific upgrades to make this a good bike when riding dirt.
Quality Score
Quality Score: 1.2
What about the Quality?
A 1.2 quality score is not very impressive. As I mentioned, the Kink Curb is made from hi tensile steel, single wall rims, and unsealed bearings. This is almost as low quality as it gets. While the three-piece crank and Kink Hemlock pedals make the bike stand out, it’s not enough to boast a very high-quality score.
Riding a high-quality bike is important to have fun and progress safely.
The Kink Curb includes these features that make up its 1.2 Quality Score
- Few Aftermarker parts
- Semi-sealed Cassette
Should you get the Kink Curb
I’m going to say “No, but”. No, you shouldn’t get the Kink Curb, BUT this might be the best option for you based on the size. In my free bike recommendations, the Curb is recommended for riders who need a 20.00″ toptube and while the quality is low on this bike, it’s better to get the right-sized bike and upgrade it later on than getting a high-quality bike that is the wrong size for you.
