The Shadow Vultus Featherweight ADJ forks are a popular upgrade for most BMX riders. They cost close to $200 and weigh less than almost any other fork on the market. I tried these forks for a while and didn’t really have a good experience… Here’s why.
Pros
These forks are super light and clean looking. The packaging is incredible and opening them up brought me back to a perfect Christmas day. The forks were installed really easily and I was able to rune fat 2.4″ tires with no issue. Upon riding them, they felt okay… but not great.
Cons
The length of the steer tube causes some issues. I had a hard time getting the right spacing amount and keeping everything compressed without being too compressed. This caused a little bit of frustration. Once I got that sorted, while riding, the fork legs felt like the “flexed” when going up and down steep transition.
The worst part happened while trying a trick. The top cap bolt completely stripped out and had to be forced to unthread.
I reached out to Shadow and talked with support, they agreed to send me a new top cap. The top cap took a little over two weeks but it did arrive.
Overall
Great forks for someone who is worried about weight. The Adjustability is a cool function but the magnets that hold it together pop out and replacing the offset tabs can become a huge headache.
I may have just got a bad set of these but I quickly bought odyssey R25 forks to replace these shadow forks and everything is golden.
